This year’s Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Hospital Appeal has raised $431,610.82 for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation – the highest amount since the partnership began in 2003. This donation brings the total amount raised for PMH by Woolworths’ WA stores to close to $2.2 million.
The Appeal, which ran from 17 August until 11 October, saw Woolworths supermarkets throughout the State raise vital funds by holding community fundraising activities such as sausage sizzles, lamington drives, trivia nights and mufti-days, as well as sales of Fresh Food Kids Hospital Appeal merchandise.
Funds raised will be used by the Foundation to support the introduction of a Chair of Paediatric Anaesthesia at PMH. This academic leadership position focuses on treating patients, teaching medical staff and conducting world-leading research into the pharmacologic, therapeutic, and clinical aspects of paediatric anaesthesia.
Woolworths Regional Manager for WA Brad Bolin said that the long-standing partnership between Woolworths and the Foundation goes from strength to strength each year.
“Woolworths is proud to continue to support the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. We thank all our customers who have helped us raise this extraordinary amount. A very special thank you to all the Woolworths staff from around Western Australia who without their passion, dedication and enthusiasm for the Appeal this great result would not have been possible”.
Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation CEO Don McLean added: “Woolworths is the Foundation’s largest corporate donor and we are privileged to have them working alongside us to support children’s health in this State. They continue to make a big difference to the lives of WA’s sick and injured children and are an inspirational example of the positive results of corporate giving.”
Over the last 21 years in excess of $56 million dollars has been raised through the Hospital Appeal nationally, with 100 percent of funds being donated to hospitals across Australia to purchase vital medical equipment and fund research and facilities for children.
