Eagles fans lend a hand
August 20, 2009

The West Coast Eagles and hundreds of specially designed hand clappers have helped raise over $13,000 for the children at Princess Margaret Hospital.

The campaign, supported by the club, Caltex and Coca-Cola saw one hundred PMH Foundation volunteers out in full force around Subiaco Oval on August 15 selling the clappers, which fans used to make some noise for their team as they took on and beat North Melbourne.

Eleven-year-old Kaiden Blaszko, a PMH patient who suffered a stroke in April this year, was the West Coast mascot on the day.

Kaiden's family were given four tickets to the game and Kaiden was kitted out in a new Eagles guernsey, shorts and socks which he wore as he ran out with the players.

Stitches the Bear also made an appearance by walking around the ground and waving to all his friends in the crowd!

PMH Foundation is one of the Eagles chosen charities in 2009. As well as fundraising, the players also regularly visit patients in the hospital providing some much-needed distraction and smiles.

The $13,000 raised this year will help fund vital equipment to help critically ill children.
