FAQ
What happens to my donation?
Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation works closely with hospital
staff and management to ensure that funding is directed into areas
most in need. Last year, the Foundation provided the hospital with
more than $4 million worth of specialist equipment, services and
research funding, based on a 'wish list' compiled by medical and
nursing staff. The Foundation also raises funds for an annual
project developed in conjunction with Princess Margaret Hospital
for Children (PMH). For more information on recently funded
equipment and services, please click here.
Isn't it the government's responsibility to fund our
public hospitals?
Yes, but government funding only stretches so far. Each year the
Foundation provides the hospital with state-of-the-art medical
equipment and services that would not normally be available through
government funding channels.
Is Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation involved with
Telethon?
No. The Foundation is a separate charity and the only charity that
fundraises solely for the entire hospital. Telethon divides its
proceeds amongst several children's charities including PMH.
Can I decide how my donation is spent?
Yes, you can specify how you would like your donation to be spent
eg, on a particular ward or department in the hospital or towards a
specific piece of equipment.
I'd like to raise money for the Foundation to help the
hospital. How do I go about this?
There are a lot of ways you can be involved and every dollar
helps! You can sell merchandise through your office, school
or club; you can host a fundraising event and donate
the proceeds; your business could become a corporate supporter
or you could volunteer and help us at one of our events.

Is there going to be a new Children's
Hospital?
Yes! A new children’s hospital for Western Australia was
announced by the State Government in 2008 to replace Princess
Margaret Hospital for Children. The new hospital will
provide the best possible clinical care for future generations and
will be the base for continuing WA’s outstanding paediatric
research. Construction on the new hospital is scheduled
to start in 2012 and is due for completion in 2015. This is
very exciting for us all but, as the Foundation, we face the
challenges and opportunities that come with continuing to fund the
current location whilst planning for the future. For
further information, please click here.
