Ruggies Recycling
“Through Ruggies Recycling, we are working towards a better future for our children, our community and our environment by decreasing the amount of waste going to landfill.”
Ruggies Recycling is a program dedicated to promoting activities and attitudes that will help to generate a sustainable future, by encouraging our members to develop an environmental waste management program.
Ruggies Recycling works with companies around WA to coordinate the recycling of waste in WA mine sites. Ruggies Recycling began in 1996 at Granny Smith gold mine, when an Environmental Officer, Rory Lamont recognised the opportunity to recycle a range of materials that were previously going into landfill.
Today, proceeds from the recycling efforts are divided equally between the PMH Foundation and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
More than 65 mining sites throughout WA are involved in this
program and together they have raised almost $3,000,000 for
PMH, which is used to fund vital projects.
