Pain Management Program
PMH Foundation has received an overwhelming response to our recent campaign to fund an exciting new pain management program at Princess Margaret
Hospital. Over $400,000 was donated and work is now underway to equip treatment rooms throughout the hospital with multimedia and multi-sensory equipment, such as data projectors, games and plasma screens. The program will help distract children from the pain and anxiety they experience while undergoing treatment. Here are just some of the benefits:
-
Patients feel less frightened about procedures and are less aware of pain
-
Patients move around less during procedures, which leads to better clinical results in a shorter time
-
Patients are given a sense of control, which enhances their self-esteem
-
Patients are less fearful about future procedures
-
Patients have improved effects from pain medication

Equipment
Over the past financial year, the WA community has also helped PMH Foundation provide Princess Margaret Hospital with over $1 million worth of vital medical equipment, including:
3D scanner for the Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Unit
Heart Monitor for the Cardiology Department
Insulin Pumps for the Diabetes Ward
Specialised Electronic Wheelchair
Ultrasound System for Diagnostic Imaging
Ventilator for the Intensive Care Unit
