Professorial Chairs of Expertise

Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH) is situated in one of the most isolated capital cities in the world. As a result, the hospital strives to attract eminent leaders in the field of paediatrics to help ensure it remains at the forefront of advances in paediatric medicine.

Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation’s involvement in this exciting new area of support will enable the establishment of Professorial Chairs of Expertise in specialist clinical areas of the hospital. Appointees to these academic leadership positions will perform their role for three to five years, focusing on treating patients, teaching medical staff and heading research projects.

This investment in clinical excellence will not only help save lives in Perth but throughout the world. Each Chair requires funding of $200,000 per year for five years.

Specialist Staff

PMH’s achievements in paediatric medicine are made possible through the commitment of its skilled teams, including its dedicated nursing and auxiliary staff. In order to provide the highest level of care to patients, PMH requires a number of specialist positions to provide support and care outside the framework of traditional models. These positions enable the hospital to provide an additional level of care to patients.

Recently funded specialist staffing roles include:

  • Palliative care nurse

  • Mobile diabetes education team

  • Obesity liaison nurse

  • Late effects oncology nurse
